Dhoop Mein Sawan is a classic that aired in the 1990s. It was directed by the maestro Mehreen Jabbar and its cast included Nadia Jamil, Hamayun Saeed, Yasir Nawaz, and Huma Nawab. It is one of those shows, to watch which you would happily dig into the reserves of the past.

It's the story of a girl, Saba, a workaholic and a practical woman who lacks the will to stand up for herself and make choices for herself. Her marriage is arranged with her cousin Asim. Saba and Asim have had no compatibility since forever, yet Saba agrees to the marriage just for the happiness of her family. When better sense prevails she finally refuses to marry Asim, leading to a series of events where all the characters have to suffer. Plus, while all this is happening Humayun Saeed also makes his entry into the storyline which adds another interesting twist to it. If you are a sucker for old PTV classics, then this one is definitely for you and even if you are not, you should consider watching it because it is worth your watch and will broaden your perspective on how stories should be written and how dramas should be directed!

A little analysis of Saba’s character, her character was no run-of-the-mill character that we usually see in our dramas these days. She was shown to be a headstrong girl who was independent and self-sufficient yet she was not someone who was the epitome of perfection. She was also shown to be weak in various aspects like not being able to stand up for herself and not being able to make choices for herself. Things all of us girls can relate to. So her character was a personal favourite of mine for its level of reliability. Plus, she was also shown to be a bookworm, always holding a book in her hand, another thing I could very much relate to. Nadia Jameel played the role to perfection. It was Nadia's charm that made the character so likable. She made it so special with her performance and her aura that even after so many years girls like me are still mesmerized by it.
